Transparency and The Energy of Money!

I have hit my limit...literally!  I overdrew my checking account for the last time yesterday!  That's right folks, I'm laying out there for everyone to see because I'm so sick and tired of living this way (and I know many of you are as well)!

I have spent the last decade meditating, learning, reading and writing about...honing and shaping my internal world and the last year helping others to do the same...BUT, I have strategically neglected, ignored, and straight up refused to look at my inner workings and beliefs around money!  Why?

Because …
  • You cannot be spiritual and have money!
  • If you are rich, you don’t care about people….(just look at our world, right?!)
  • I can’t relate to people who have money.
  • To be poor is to connect authentically and empathize with people.
  • If I have money, no one will have to “take care” of me anymore and my family will fall apart (ouch…that one hurt a little to write).
So there it is!  My inner blocks to creating a sustainable and desired income in my life!

And here is the hilarious thing…I overdrew my account at the one time during the year I had and have PLENTY of money to pay for all bills plus some!  And still, I miss managed, ignored, neglected and refused to LOOK at my finances because as we all now know by my internal money thermometer…money (according to Leslie) is the root of all that is evil and wrong with people!

Well all I can say (and this was my big aha! this week) is THANK YOU!

Thank you for moments of poverty for teaching me about what I really value in this life!

Thank you “pay check to pay check” for teaching me to consume responsibly and to live simply so other may simply live!

Thank you for the jobs that paid me a small percentage of what I and the job was worth, for you led me to search my soul for my true worth and passion.

Thank you to my parents and generations before them who unwittingly transmitted these beliefs, for they provided me with many opportunities to empathize with, acknowledge the dignity of and genuinely communicate with  people no matter how rejected and alien they may seem to society.

Thank you…and I now officially release all the struggling and scarcity!  I am ready to FULLY embrace a world of abundance and unlimited potential…not just within my soul but on the outside as well, in this incredibly beautiful, exquisite earthly realm!

I’m ready to be able to
  • educate my children in a manner that is worthy of their souls,
  • travel, visit with and celebrate  family and friends I have been disconnected from through distance,
  • be able to buy a gosh darn latte whenever I feel like it :),
  • invest exclusively in local farmers and business owners who value sustainability and
  •  invest in my own learning and evolution and that of all those I am here to serve!
But especially, as a woman, a teacher, a healer and a mother…I embrace this outer abundance manifest as money, power and influence in order to redistribute the resources and wealth on this planet!

Now, don't worry, this hippie soul still looks forward to a the day (hopefully in my lifetime) when our gifts and talents are exchanged equally in community and we are valued just for being human!  A time when everyone has more than enough and enjoys enough inner and outer freedom to embrace the cycle of giving and receiving effortlessly

but...

until that day I will honor the place and time I was planted and accept any and all outer (and inner) abundance the Universe would gift me!

I’m all in for love AND money $!

Dear Leslie:

We need money to liberate our self from the constraints of dependency. We need money to implement our goals. It is ok to let our money make money for us. All this can be done responsibly and also give us the peace we need to do our work and use our gifts wisely.

All that said, sometimes these lessons are relearned at various times in our lives. Living in the pink slip world of teaching right now, I wish I had saved more...but I am thinking positively and creating solutions, and will save more when able.

Love your blog! annie

Dear Leslie,
I can relate to everything you said. I've been there and still struggle with being there at times. It took me a long time to realize that money is NOT the root of all evil. Money is just a way we exchange goods and services. SO why do so many people, especially many women, struggle with this thing call money? Sometimes I wonder if it's a matter of feeling DESERVING of having abundance of ALL things good? Yes, money can be freeing, yet the FEELING of being free needs to start from within. At least for me it did. I have this passage from Shiloh Sophia McCloud called "This Work of Women" I return to it often to remind me of the inner strength we must have, deserve, and give, so we may RECEIVE without guilt.

Yes. It is time for a revolution in women and path, women and money, woman and business, womena and art, women and marketplace. We do not choose to give oru works of any kind away for nothing. We are not starving or frivolous artists. We are creators whose creations save lives, heal the world, heal wounds. This work of women, priestesses, and practitioners of every kind is VISIONARY WORK.
Yor work is vital. Essential. Needed. This work of women must include creating livelihood. This is not easy, quick, fun nor likely. This is not accepted or encouraged. But this is what we must do:
Caus an abundance revolution.
We must create our own path.
We must create our own money.
We must create art.
We must create our own marketplace.
We must be compenstated.

We are creating our own mystical cosmic luminous overlfowing BANK. A bank that does not cause, contribute or condone the suffering of other for profit. A woman's bank. Believe it. Create it. Deposit into it. Draw from it. Invite other women to it. Enter the income stream in your little golden boat and dream and work and pray and play and do not stop. Keep going. It will almsot always seem impossible. But we will make miracles. Miracle are organizing themselves around our dreams, our work, right now. Believe it.

Pretty powerful isn't it??
Believe it Leslie. Putting yourself out there for everyone to see is pretty vulnerable. It's a great freeing place to start:)

Leslie,
I really don't think it's fair of you to make general statement about "rich" people, unless you agree with the general statements made about the poor! Who are you to assign a label of spirituality? For the record, most people have struggled financially at one time or another. The challenge is how you come out of it. I remember feeling so thankful to people like my mom & nana who would slip me a little money or pay for some groceries when the boys were little. I never ONCE was critical of their financial status & labelled them as not being spiritual or not being able to relate to me or not caring about me! Shame on you, Leslie! With my love, Aunt Amy

Aunt Amy,
I think Leslie is trying to say that she is beginning to realize that those are limiting beliefs she has held, and that they have held her back, and that she wants to release them...and I think she needs to be loved, honored and celebrated for being brave enough to say them out loud and being willing to examine them and shift them...shaming her probably won't help her become liberated from a tendency we all have to assign labels to others.
And Leslie, The Secret of Intentional Wealth is a program that helped me address and radically change my subconscious programming and energy around money...(there is an affiliate link to it on my blog if you want to check it out)...

Unfortunately, Rebecca, you don't know Leslie like I do. I don't know you and you don't know me! Beliefs and bravery shouldn't include blanket statements like the ones posted! I guess I get a little tired of insightful posts that are flowery forms of bull-in my own cleansing opinion! If Leslie's money beliefs were limiting her, she should not lump others into her perceptions! If you call it "healing" and "liberating" then you don't care about people...hey! Just like the rich!

Amy,
I do know Leslie. Perhaps not the way you do, which might be why I understand what she is trying to communicate, because I am not putting her in a box. I love and accept her and believe her message recognizes that she was lumping others into her perceptions. By being able to realize she was thinking those thoughts she can now change them, heal them and be free from doing that to herself and other people. She states the following beliefs not as truths but as lies she used to believe that have hurt her and others:

Because …

* You cannot be spiritual and have money!
* If you are rich, you don’t care about people….(just look at our world, right?!)
* I can’t relate to people who have money.
* To be poor is to connect authentically and empathize with people.
* If I have money, no one will have to “take care” of me anymore and my family will fall apart (ouch…that one hurt a little to write).

So there it is! My inner blocks to creating a sustainable and desired income in my life!

It is brave of her to be able to acknowledge that she believed those things and to be willing to admit it. She is not saying she believes those things now. Many people have those kinds of beliefs and don't even realize it...we can't change them if we won't look at them and admit them.

Dear Aunt Amy,
Your shaming words about Leslie have sadenned me. I too have shared the same "mistaken" beliefs about money that Leslie has and am working hard on letting them all go, because they are meaningless and do not welcome abundance. I am so humbled that Leslie had the courage to say what she has felt. I love her! I wish you all the best.

Oh Leslie, I love it! I love every little bit of that post! I can relate and I appreciate your sharing this because I do find it very healing! You got to feel it to heal it! Kudos to you for having the courage to look at the uncomfortable and celebrate to cleansing and the awakening to your highest and unlimited potential. Thank you to giving words to this experience that so many of us feel and need to heal and are also working on!
Cheers (holding up iced Latte!)
